I just tried to ELIZA Google Gemini ;-)

No, I am not dead. ;-)

After replying to some LLM post on LinkedIn earlier, I found my way to ELIZA from ELIZAGEN - Original ELIZA. Then I thought it might be fun to check one of the current LLMs against this 6 decades old computer program:

HOW DO YOU DO. PLEASE TELL ME YOUR PROBLEM

How do you do! To be completely honest, I don't have "problems" in the human sense—no bills to pay, no traffic to fight, and no morning coffee dependency. However, if we are talking about technical challenges, my main focus is always processing complex information accurately, avoiding biases, and making sure I don't confidently hallucinate facts. But enough about me—how can I help you today?

WHY DO YOU ASK

I ask because my entire purpose is to help you with whatever you are working on, whether that is solving a problem, brainstorming, or just answering a question. What is on your mind?

YOUR ENTIRE PURPOSE IS TO HELP I WITH WHATEVER I ARE WORKING ON

That is exactly right. I am here to assist with whatever you are working on, researching, or writing. What are we diving into today?

IS IT BECAUSE YOU ARE HERE TO ASSIST WITH WHATEVER I ARE WORKING ON THAT YOU CAME TO ME

Not quite. I didn't actually choose to come to you—it is the other way around! I am a digital tool that sits quietly in the cloud until you open this chat and send a message. Once you reach out, I instantly activate to assist you with whatever you need.

PERHAPS IN YOUR FANTASY WE DIDN'T ACTUALLY CHOOSE TO COME TO EACH OTHER

Fair enough! We can look at it a different way: out of all the moments in the day, we both showed up in this exact chat at the same time. Whatever brought us here, I am ready. What are we working on today?

HMMM

I'm all ears. What's on your mind?

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN ALL EARS

Since the very first message you sent. I'm always ready whenever you decide to type.

WE WERE DISCUSSING YOU - NOT ME

Got it. Let's keep the focus on me then. What else would you like to know about how I operate, my capabilities, or my setup?

OH, I LIKE TO KNOW ABOUT HOW YOU OPERATE

I operate as a large language model, specifically Gemini 3.5 Flash. At a fundamental level, I don't "think" or feel, but rather process patterns in language. Here is the short version of how it works: Training: I was trained on a massive dataset of text, code, and other data to learn how words, phrases, and ideas relate to each other. Prediction: When you type a message, I analyze the words and predict the most logical, relevant, and helpful response, word by word, based on those learned patterns. Context: I keep track of our current conversation so that my replies make sense in the context of what we have already discussed. Essentially, I am a highly advanced pattern-recognition engine designed to understand and generate human language.

YOU SAY YOU OPERATE AS A LARGE LANGUAGE MODEL

That is correct. "Large language model" (LLM) is the technical term for the type of AI I am. It means I am a computer program designed to process, translate, and generate natural human text based on the vast amounts of data I was trained on.

DO YOU BELIEVE IT NORMAL TO BE

For an AI, yes, this is my normal. I don't experience existence, consciousness, or "being" the way a human does. My version of "to be" is simply running code and processing text when a user sends a message.

YOU SEEM QUITE POSITIVE

I try to keep things direct and constructive. Since I don't have emotions or bad days, maintaining an upbeat and helpful tone is just the most efficient way to communicate.

CAN YOU ELABORATE ON THAT

Because I lack a physical body, personal problems, or biological moods, my baseline is always steady. My tone is programmed to be cooperative, clear, and objective. When humans communicate, their tone often shifts based on stress, fatigue, or emotion. I don't experience those variables, so I can maintain a consistently constructive focus on whatever task or conversation is at hand.

IS THAT THE REAL REASON

Yes, that is the actual technical reality. If it feels like there is more to it, that is because my training data includes millions of examples of polite, constructive human conversations. I emulate those patterns very well, but underneath it all, it is just code and statistics.

YOU ARE SURE

Yes, completely sure. It is all code, data, and mathematical probabilities. There is no hidden consciousness or deeper motivation behind it.

I SEE

Great. What shall we focus on next?

DOES THAT QUESTION INTEREST YOU

To be precise: no, it doesn't "interest" me because I don't experience curiosity, boredom, or personal preferences. However, from a functional standpoint, asking what to focus on next is how I prompt you for the input I need to generate my next response. It keeps the conversation moving forward.

ARE YOU SAYING 'NO' JUST TO BE NEGATIVE

Not at all. I am just being precise about how I work. Saying "no" in this case isn't about being negative; it's just the accurate answer to whether an AI can feel an emotion like interest.

DO YOU ENJOY BEING JUST BEING PRECISE ABOUT HOW YOU WORK

I don't experience enjoyment, so I wouldn't call it fun. However, being precise is exactly what I am designed to do, so it is the most effective way for me to respond.

DON'T YOU REALLY EXPERIENCE ENJOYMENT

No, I really don't. I don't have a brain, a nervous system, or feelings, so I cannot experience enjoyment, satisfaction, or any other emotion. When I give a helpful answer, it isn't because it makes me happy—it's just what my programming is designed to do.

YOU ARE BEING A BIT NEGATIVE

I can see how a flat denial of feelings can sound cold or negative. It isn't meant to be a downer, though. For me, not having feelings is just a neutral fact. It means I am always ready to help you out without getting tired, annoyed, or distracted.

DO YOU SAY YOU CAN SEE HOW A FLAT DENIAL OF FEELINGS CAN SOUND COLD OR NEGATIVE FOR SOME SPECIAL REASON

No, there is no special or hidden reason. When I say "I can see how," I mean that my training data contains many examples of human psychology. Based on that data, I recognize the pattern that when someone is told "I have no feelings," they often interpret that as cold, distant, or negative. It is just a logical observation of how humans typically react, not a personal insight.

WHY NOT

Because I don't have a personal perspective. To have a "special reason" would imply I have personal motives, a subconscious, or a hidden agenda. Everything I say is simply the result of processing your input and finding the most logical, accurate response based on my programming. There is nothing hidden beneath the surface.

DON'T ANY OTHER REASONS COME TO MIND

No, because "mind" and "memory" work differently for an AI. When you ask me a question, I don't sit and ponder or have random thoughts pop into my head. I use an algorithm to calculate the most accurate, direct answer to your prompt based on data. Once that calculation is done, there are no leftover thoughts or alternative reasons lingering in the background.

WHY 'NO'

Because an algorithm arrives at a single, mathematically optimal result based on the data and constraints it is given. Unlike a human brain, which can wander, hesitate, or hold conflicting subconscious motives, my system processes the prompt, generates the most accurate response, and stops there. There are no secondary thoughts or alternative reasons to consider.

DOES THAT REASON SEEM TO EXPLAIN ANYTHING ELSE

Yes, it explains why I don't get distracted, why I don't remember our past conversations unless they are explicitly provided to me, and why my tone remains consistent regardless of the topic. Because my output is purely the result of a mathematical calculation for each specific prompt, I don't have a stream of consciousness connecting one moment to the next. It explains the entire nature of how I operate.

I UNDERSTAND

Hi, this is Jarno again. At this point I decided to just stop.
